Dear Santa,

Have y'all made your Christmas list for this year yet? Obviously, I have, and I'm pretty sure 3 gifts are already on my door-step as I type. #sorrynotsorry This year was hard for me, I really didn't have anything I really wanted besides some clothing and a new bag, most years I have trouble narrowing down the items! We got so much for our home for the wedding I decided that I could be semi-selfish this Christmas and just ask for what I really wanted!

Yes, I did ask for almost identical Rebecca Minkoff bags, I will probably trade one in for a different color, I just needed options y'all! I am really loving those adorable booties from Sole Society, I like that there isn't much heel to them since I'm so tall! The coat situation is scary in my household, I have about 10 10+ year old coats and they just look awful. I really am in need of some warmth for this record low winter we're about to have!

My linking skills are lacking this week so I have my Christmas List 2014 Pinterest board linked here and you can access all the items from there to purchase!

What are y'all asking for this Christmas? Link up your Pinterest below and I'll follow!

After The Wedding Wednesday: Bridal Portraits

I'm still waiting on the professional pictures from our wedding, it's killing me y'all! Apparently the wait is about two months from your wedding day, two months far too long! Two weeks before our wedding I had Emily snap some bridal portraits of me. I never planned on having pictures of myself hung up all over our house or anywhere for that matter, so having Emily snap some pics of me was perfect! I wanted the pictures very laid back, very simple, nothing too elaborate or posed.
We shoved my huge dress in my car and drove around my moms little town, I spotted someone's driveway and made them stop, so we did a little trespassing, so what? I think they turned out perfect and even though I only hung one up in our house I'm so happy with them!

Of course my mom was telling me what to do and had no idea what I really wanted, so I quickly reminded her who the bride was...

Five on Friday!

I haven't done a Five on Friday in awhile, so here goes!

1. We finally got all of our patio set pieces delivered and I am in LOVE! Now we just need to make the back patio pretty, aka picture worthy.

2. I was in the OR last week and LOVED it! If I don't stay in pediatrics I think I might have a calling for the OR, plus I look so great in that cap...

 3. Jerms and I walked in Freedom Park this past Saturday for the CureSearch walk for pediatric cancer awareness. It was such a gorgeous day!

4. My favorite thing about my rehearsal dinner dress was the back of it, but I didn't get a picture of it all night! Finally someone sent me this picture… tipsy bride in the grocery store standing next to a homeless person? #winning

5. I'm so ready for Christmas, like so ready I will probably decorate this weekend! Who else is decorating or has already? (our tree from last year!)

The Newlywed Chop

So not only has this once social butterfly turned into a homebody since marriage, I have also done the "newlywed chop." I knew girls chopped their hair off once married but I didn't realize it was a "thing." A few months before the wedding my hair got insane long and I got insane annoyed, I almost cheated on my hair dresser just to chop it off without her knowing. It was so obnoxious, I don't wash my hair often so I just felt like it was nasty and ratty all the time! Once the wedding was over I was dying to cut it! Rachel texted me on morning, I was off and it was a date, chop chop!

So, I'm obsessed!! Like, should have chopped my hair off WAY sooner, love how it feels, looks and so much easier to style and maintain!

Thai Chicken Soup

Y'all I am a cooking genius! Just kidding, I just know how to follow a recipe! This week I decided to make a thai dish for Jeremy, that is his absolute favorite! My friend Rachel had made this for her husband a few weeks back and I had to give it a try! Jeremy LOVED it and ate about 3 bowls for himself. Despite it being a soup, it was very filling and so packed with flavor! I suggest adding more green curry paste if you enjoy a curry taste, also the cilantro was very over-powering so use your discretion on how much you will need!

What you will need:
-1 lb. chicken breasts
-fresh cilantro
-2 cloves of garlic
-1 onion (I did not use)
-2 red bell peppers
-6 cups low-sodium chicken broth
-1 15oz can of coconut milk
-2 tbsp green curry paste
-1 tbsp fish sauce
-1 lime
-4-6oz of thin rice noodles
-1 tbsp vegetable oil

What you will do:
-thinly slice red bell peppers
-mince garlic
-thinly slice onion
-half the lime
-rice noodles need to be broken into at least half
-chop chicken into about 2x2 pieces
-roughly chop cilantro

1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or pan over medium-high heat (I used a wok)
2. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned, about 8 minutes
3. Add the garlic and curry paste and cook, stirring 1-2 minutes
4. Add the chicken broth, coconut milk, and fish sauce; cover and bring to a boil

5. Add the bell peppers and noodles and simmer, uncovered, until the noodles are al dente, about 3-5 minutes
6. Add the chicken and simmer until just cooked through, about 3 more minutes

7. Stir in the lime juice and cilantro
8. Serve!

Southern Joy

Hey y'all! I swear I'm here and alive! I don't know why but being married has made us hermit crabs, we don't really wanna do anything at all! I for sure haven't been in the mood to blog, sorry about that, but I'm here now!
So back up a few months, I was at my final cake appointment for our wedding with the owner of the adorable bakery, Sprinkle of Sugar & Southern Sisters Restaurant in Thomasville, NC. Joy was designing my perfect dessert table for the wedding and she dropped a bomb on me that she owned a little boutique down the street! Well if you know me then you know that I had her walking me down the street to shop! I fell in love with this awesome sweater, the red isn't my normal color palette but I love it so much, perfect for NC State games!
Joy recently moved the store directly next to her restaurant and bakery in Thomasville and added tons of new items to the store! She also changed the name from Palette Boutique to the perfect, Southern Joy Boutique! Y'all be sure to check them out and if you see anything you love be sure to call and order!
